The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday announced its first-ever participation in the upcoming civic elections in Bhiwandi and Navi Mumbai, saying it plans to field candidates for the maximum possible number of seats in both municipal corporations.
Addressing reporters in Thane, AAP’s Bhiwandi unit president Masih Iqbal and general secretary Hanumant Jadhav said the party has completed the initial screening of candidates for 30 of the 90 seats in the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation. They said discussions are underway with local activists and potential candidates for the remaining wards.
